Blue is my absolute favorite color, this diamond pattern design features a dozen shades of blue mixed with some greens giving it a flowing water look accented with sand dollars, Nautilus shells, and a few sea horses. Seahorses have always fascinated me, so many varieties and so rarely seen where I have lived. Seahorse is the name given to 54 species of small marine fishes in the genus Hippocampus, a name that comes from the Ancient Greek word hippos meaning "horse" and kampos meaning "sea monster." It was recently learned that seahorses have the ability to change their color and shape to blend in with their environment which makes identification of individual species challenging Seahorses are under threat worldwide for three main reasons-the traditional Chinese medicine trade which takes in excess of up to 150 million seahorses a year from the wild, the curio trade takes approximately one million seahorses from the wild, and the pet trade takes an estimated one million seahorses from the wild per year. This scarf is modal fabric which is a natural fiber produced from cellulose; the fabric is very soft to the touch and virtually wrinkle-free.
