#SS204-Sea Glass Square Scarf

The unique colors in this scarf were accidental to a point but became most intentional based on the many shades of sea glass we found on the beach while growing up. Naturally produced sea glass originates as pieces of glass from broken bottles, broken tableware, or even shipwrecks, which are rolled and tumbled in the ocean for years until all of their edges are rounded off, and the slickness of the glass has been worn to a frosted appearance. Sea glass takes 20 to 40 years, and sometimes as much as 100 years, to acquire its characteristic texture and shape. My design also boldly features the loggerhead sea turtle, the state reptile of South Carolina. The loggerhead is the most common sea turtle along the Carolina coast and unfortunately, the nesting population has declined 3% per year since records began in 1980.

A portion of my revenues goes to help support the South Carolina Turtle Hospital here in Charleston. If you haven’t experienced a turtle release, you need to go! The turtles we release here migrate throughout the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, and the Caribbean.

This scarf is delivered in our deluxe gift box, signed by the artist, and includes an insert with our Eden Shell story.
